Is it time to schedule your annual eye examination? Whether you wear contact lenses or eye glasses, have had refractive surgery, or have no problems seeing, a health check of your eyes is recommended yearly. Your annual eye examination includes a glaucoma screening for eye pressure, blood pressure screening, peripheral vision evaluation, a health check of the inside and outside of your eyes, and an examination of your vision at distance and near. Children often do not complain of vision problems, but when school performance is below expectations, an eye exam is in order. Children may pass visual acuity screening for distance while straining to maintain focus close up. Regular check-ups are important for growing children as their vision can change rapidly. Dr. Vicuna specializes in pediatric optometry and developmental diagnostics.
